These requirements cover open type self-protected capacitors of the dry, metallized film element type, rated 660 Vac and less, with a temperature rating of 90 °C and less, intended for use as components in alternating current applications within appliances and equipment covered by the Standards of the Canadian Electrical Code Part II. Typical applications include motor start and run circuits, lighting ballast and phase shift circuits, transformer circuits, and similar applications, which involve operation at power line frequency.
