Transition for CanadaGAP® food safety for fresh fruits and vegetables
Action required
All accredited Product, Process and Service Certification Bodies that are currently certifying organizations to CanadaGAP are required to transition to CanadaGAP version 10 of the CanadaGAP® food safety manuals for fresh fruits and vegetables and Program Management Manual.
Certification Bodies shall audit their customers to the CanadaGAP® food safety manuals for fresh fruits and vegetables, version 10.
Affected customers
Certification Bodies, auditors and assessors working in the CanadaGAP scheme.
Background
The CanadaGAP manuals are updated for 2023.
New requirements
CBs accredited for CanadaGAP are required to provide evidence of the following to SCC:
- Version 10 of the CanadaGAP® food safety manuals for fresh fruits and vegetables and program management manual requirements in their management system
- Auditor training and qualification records
- Evidence of management decision confirming the CB is ready for and in compliance with version 10 of the CanadaGAP® food safety manuals for fresh fruits and vegetables and program management manual requirements
- Proposed scope of accreditation
Transition Plan
Any identified deficiencies in the CB’s management system shall be covered by an action plan.
Deadline
CBs shall transition no later than March 31, 2023.
