PEFC Endorsement of CAN/CSA-Z809 for Sustainable Forest Management

Effective 2018-03-29, CAN/CSA-Z809-16 has been endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).  

Affected customers

This change affects Management System Certification Bodies operating in the field of CSA Sustainable Forest Management Accreditation Program, their customers, as well as, SCC assessors performing assessments in this area.

Background

This guidance has been provided as an update to the PEFC General Assembly vote on the endorsement of CAN/CSA-Z809-16 and changes to the assessment and endorsement process.

New requirements

PEFC Council has revised its assessment and endorsement procedure. Endorsements no longer have an expiry date, and now include a review date, where the next review must begin. The review date is five years from the national approval date of the standard. For CAN/CSA-Z809-16, this is 2021-09-16.  Review and revisions must be completed and submitted for assessment to PEFC Council two years from the review date.
