Background
On January 29th, 2018, IAF published a revised version of IAF MD 1:2018 IAF Mandatory Document for the Audit and Certification of a Management System Operated by a Multi-Site Organization (Issue 2). This new version combines the requirements of the previous version of IAF MD1, as well as, IAF MD19:2016 IAF Mandatory Document for The Audit and Certification of a Management System operated by a Multi-Site Organization (where application of site sampling is not appropriate). MD19 has now been withdrawn as a stand-alone document.
The revision is for the most part an amalgamation of the two documents, with no significant changes to the requirements themselves. In some places the language has been strengthened, and a better description of “virtual site” has been provided.

The new document is now in effect. If a Certification Body requires a transition period to update their documentation, please contact your SCC Account Manager to make arrangements.
