SCC-accredited Inspection Bodies
Background
SCC has revised the SCC Requirements and Guidance - Inspection Body Accreditation Program document to clarify some clauses. In particular, clause 6.1.3.2. has been reviewed to ensure that there is clarity around who can do the inspections. Clause 6.1.3.2 applies only to the inspections of Commercial and Industrial Gas-fired Appliances and Equipment.
New requirements
Clause 6.1.3.2 has been amended to improve its clarity:
- The IB shall ensure that the inspection be performed by a registered professional engineer who is competent in the field of the inspection in question or by competent personnel under his/her supervision.
[applies only to inspections of Commercial and Industrial Gas-fired Appliances and Equipment]
As well, SCC has made some structural changes to the document that do not impact the actual requirements:
- Clause 7.4.1.1 has been divided into three separate clauses, and
- Clause 9.2.4 has been divided into two separate clauses
Finally, some minor changes have been made to the sentence structure of certain clauses to improve clarity. These changes do not impact the actual requirements.
Deadline
Customers are requested to make any necessary updates to their documentation as soon as possible.
