For SCC-accredited certification bodies of products, processes and services;

Further to SCC bulletin No. 2016-08, April 2016 the Canadian Advisory Council for Electrical Sector (CACES) is now implementing the new ORD processes and requirements outlined in the SCC document Program Overview - Guidelines for the Development and maintenance of Other Recognized Documents (ORDs).

Effective January 31, 2017, ORD submissions concerning the electrical safety sector and approved by CACES must follow the Program Overview - Guidelines for the Development and maintenance of Other Recognized Documents (ORDs), as well as the SCC Requirements and Guidance - Product, Process, and Service Certification Body Accreditation Program – 2016-04-06 edition. These documents have been approved by SCC’s governing council, and are available on the SCC website.

All ORD submissions to CACES must be sent to the CACES Secretariat at caces.regulatory@scc.ca.  The new requirements and processes will ensure an efficient and consistent ORD process.  As well, the new process will help provide effective management and monitoring of ORDs to the benefit of all stakeholders, including certification bodies, regulatory bodies, industry, and consumers.

If you have questions, please contact the CACES Secretariat at caces.regulatory@scc.ca or the ORD Project Manager at ORD@scc-ccn.ca.
