Tayt Winnitoy

Private sector representative

Tayt Winnitoy is the Executive Vice President of Consumer Protection BC, a provincial regulator that is responsible for the licensing and oversight of seven industry sectors as well as the regulation of certain consumer transactions. Tayt has been with the organization since its inception in 2004.

Tayt is the senior leadership team member responsible for supporting and advising on all aspects of Consumer Protection BC’s mandate. He currently leads the teams responsible for Licensing and Information Services, Policy and Government Relations, Business Systems and Solutions, and Governance and Human Resources.

Tayt’s role with Consumer Protection BC demands a broad perspective; the ability to balance the impacts of any given decision on consumers, businesses and the marketplace; and a deep commitment to finding ways to make things work better for all parties.

Prior to his position with Consumer Protection BC, Tayt spent three years as the Registrar of Cemetery and Funeral Services within British Columbia’s Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General, where he was the regulator of all funeral homes, funeral directors, embalmers, cemeteries and crematoria in the province. Before that he spent several years at the same ministry as the manager of business improvement.

Tayt holds a B.A. from the University of Victoria. He completed the Leadership Development Program at the Niagara Institute in 2008, and a Certificate in Advanced Strategy from the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business in 2018.
