Canada is a nation known for its entrepreneurs and innovators. Empowering our innovators and small-to- medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is crucial to ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth for our country. Not only will it help fuel our economy by creating jobs, but it will also support Canadian competitiveness in global markets.

Intellectual property (IP) is one of the ways we can bolster Canadian innovation and support our home- grown SMEs. IP is any form of knowledge or expression that is created with one’s own mind— everything from computer software to visual art to a trademark. Managing IP is often a critical factor in successfully commercializing products and services. It also encourages and fuels innovation by preventing others from stealing or taking credit for an invention or creation.
